What works, and what still doesn't
Last updated August 2026.
The website
This site is built to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA. In practice that means the following are deliberate rather than accidental:
- Every text colour was checked against its background; body text sits at 6:1 or better and the smallest text at 4.5:1 or better.
- Gold is used for decoration, borders and large display type — never for small body text, where it would not pass.
- Everything works from the keyboard, with a visible gold focus ring that is never removed.
- The mobile menu traps focus while open, closes on Escape, and returns focus to the button that opened it.
- Answers in accordions are real content in the page, so they are findable with Ctrl+F and readable without JavaScript.
- Animation is suppressed entirely for anyone whose system asks for reduced motion.
- The active page is marked with an underline as well as a colour change, so it does not rely on colour perception.
- Text reflows to 320px and can be zoomed to 200% without content being lost.
- Tap targets on phones are at least 44px, and the booking bar reserves its own height so it never covers the end of a page.
Known limitations
- The map on the contact page is an embedded Google Maps frame. Its accessibility is Google's, not ours. The full address and a directions link sit next to it in plain text, so nothing is only available inside the map.
- Some photographs illustrate a technique rather than carry information. Their alt text describes what is shown, which is useful but cannot fully replace seeing it.
- The site has not yet been tested end to end with a screen reader by a person who uses one daily. That is the next thing on this list.
The studio itself
Physical access matters more than the website for most people who need it.
- There is step-free access from the street and from the parking area.
- There is an accessible bathroom.
- The treatment couch can be lowered.
- There is parking, including accessible spaces.
- A companion or carer is welcome to stay in the room with you.
If you need to be certain about something specific — a transfer height, a wheelchair with unusual dimensions, a door width — call (858) 354-0717 before you travel and we will check it against the actual room rather than guess. Finding out at the door is far worse than asking first.
Tell us what is broken
If something on this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, please say so. Call (858) 354-0717 and describe what you were trying to do and what happened. Reports are acted on, not filed.
